It would appear that our chances for floating the Grand Canyon might be coming soon. The Park Service plans on having the first lottery under the new Management Plan this August for some left over launch dates in 2007. Those who've been on the waiting list for years have a better chance of drawing as the new MP is implemented over the next few years but we gotta try!

Oh, I feel sorry for you folks on the Big Hole this weekend. It's Saturday morning and the radar looks grim, almost solid green with snow across the western part of the state. I'm sure glad I stayed home this weekend. I just turned on the heater and I think a nap might be in order.

New fishing technique

Zach has learned a new way to catch fish when no one else is. It's really freekin' simple. You give up, set the rod down and do something else, roll a smoke, make a sandwich, look for your coozy, whatever, as long as your not paying attention. Really the only two trips I've take with him in my boat where we weren't catching fish, he did it with pretty good results. A spawned-out fall king.

And two Browns Lake bows that were 19" long, 14" in girth and took him to his backing. Sunofa!











Alright Auto, you called me out. Here's a 2005 vintage shot, but the fish isn't rotten, and I was actively fishing when I caught it. We were in a 14' wooden Gypsy riding wakes from the 40' yachts that weren't catching a damn thing. Newburyport Harbor, Mass.

I drove through Yellowstone yesterday and all of the rivers are about to spill their banks. The rapids on Yankee Jim Canyon are almost totally wiped out the river is so high. It is flooding people. Time to go backpacking.

The river in front of B's looked like it had several log trucks go into it...there is lots of wood floating in the river...perhaps flatwater is a good idea this weekend. I'll check it out though and send some photos.

No, that is not Mikey swimming Lochsa falls. That is actually Philly gettin-er-done at 4.75 feet on the bridge gauge. He verified with me that he is and was upright the entire time though the churning froth.

Gallatin River Baby!!!!! Yeah

Hi, my name is Groover and I am a Spam-a-holic. We are NO LONGER planning on running the Gallatin this coming weekend, 5/19/06 DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RIVER MAY BE AT FLOOD STAGE. This Blog is a challenge to to those who will join us on future adventures to come up with the best Spam recipe. The photos below portray a "Spam a la salsa" masterpiece made by Artie. Philly claims that the key is cooking out the evil first. I am not sure that Artie cooked out all of the evil, but my reaction could also be blamed on Selway water or Natty Light or whiskey.
