North Fork of the Clearwater

I figured I better write something since it does say contributors. So I got to looking and mapping the north fork and it is a 46 mile float from the put in at Hidden Creek CG to Aquarius CG. I marked the put in and take out on the map and it looks like you can come over from superior if the pass is open. It looks like the trout creek road comes straight over the hill to the put in, 43 miles from superior. I am working on the video and the pictures for you guys as well. Hopefully we can make this work for memeorial day. Let me know if you are going to be able to make it over to the lochsa in two weeks and I will be there as well. This time I will be floating as well!!!

If the pass isn't open, we are looking at a 6-7 hour drive. I'm going to make it a four day weekend, so I am not afraid of a little drive.

I am thinking that my 16' cat may be a little big for the headwaters stuff, but we can scout when we get there.

Yeah, I'm sure pass will be closed. Either way, those campgrounds will be full on a 3 day weekend. Maybe we should just meet at one of those campgrounds and hope for the best.

6-7 hr drive, try 12-14. I may rethink going that far, I need to get back monday and 24 hrs of driving ( if I'm lucky) may be too much for 2 days of floating. Bring a GPS if you have one. Don't want to run out of gas in the middle of nowhere because you forgot to take a turn. Do you plan on floating 46 miles and camp out on the river or just do day floats? I'm up in the air, may just do the Saw and put up with the cluster.

I went over there last winter late and figured out the trip in from the idaho side so it shouldn't be a problem to get in from there. I have a couple of people who went over to the St. Joe this weekend and did a two day over it so I will see how they went in and if there was still to much snow up top. As far as camp grounds I am done with school now so YEA HAW, oh and I can get a campground for us if we are still interested. I was also thinking that day trips would be the best in stead of trying to float from place to place and I am taking my doggy dog and I thought eddy was als well. There is also fuel avaliable at peirce and in between peirce and head quarters there is an automated gas station but no other services. Let me know what your thinking I will be out of town this week heading to the montana side of the pass to play. Talk you soon!

Groovers mapquest says it won't be as long a drive as I had envisioned, save me a spot at the campground.

So I went to the Lochsa this week and oh yeah! What a great five days. It was up almost everyday until today in which it was down a little. I also sought some information form the new lochsa river ranger and great friend of mine and the road from montana is NOT open. He ran it already and said there was an avalanche that closed it from the monatana side but you can still access the north fork from the Idaho side. Are we still thinking thursday afternoon for some and friday for others? Let me know so I can get the logistics figured out from over here and I will go over early to get a spot.
