Da Gorge

I figured someone needs to post something. Mikey and I floated the Gorge last Sunday. Super low, but it was nice to get on the water.

New Addition

Frances Louise Ward was born on 2/28. She was 8lbs 11 oz, 21 inches long and didn't have an adipose fin....so I figgered I'd keep her.

Being the proud dad of two girls already has me worried about river trips in ten years or so with the Anderson and Coleman boys...oh boy!!!

I just wanted to create a post, and one with a raft and sun seemed perfect about now. This is how I kept Wally in the boat for his first float. I think now that maybe he was smelling pheasants.

The SS Cleaver

Here are some shots of the new unit. I can hardly wait to get it out!!! The paint is amazing, these shots don't do it any justice.

I'm coming up for my 20 yr High School reuinion the end of July and plan on bringing her up for some trout slaying on the Missouri with some other GFHS folks. Anyone game? We could use more boats.

Warming Trend

It was forecasted to be a warm weekend here in H-town, but that didn't happen. So I crawled from my cozy bed at O'dark 30 this morning with dreams of a relatively warm day of fishing. The thermometer on my truck started at 6 and dropped to -2 by the time I got to the ice.

I rolled in to the sacred fishing access site still in the dark and some ice fishing bretheren were already there unloading their 4-wheelers. So I turned to one of my new found neighbors unloading a 4-wheeler and asked him how it was going. His response: Sh*t, it's f*cking cold and it is going to be a f*cking cold ride to where we're fishing. On top of that, I just froze my f*cking ass to the f*cking seat in that f*cking outhouse while taking a f*cking nasty sh*t.

A lot disturbed with the experience sharing, but very thankful that my day had started better than his, I wished my new found friend luck in his fishing endeavors and grabbed my worms and maggots and headed out on to the ice. The fishing was a little slow, but had some pretty good success. My camera froze, so the photo below is an apres fishing photo that I might use in my PETA application. All and all, was a good morning on the ice.

Four Rivers lottery!!!

Just a reminder, four rivers ends Jan 31. I put in for Middle fork June 15th. Maybe we'll get lucky. Anyone interested if I do get lucky?
I also pick up my new driftboat on Thursday. Anyone that wants to go steelheadin drop me a post. Tues - Sat are my new days off. I'll be spending some time in Orofino on the Clearwater the week before Valentines day. Out to the Rougue in May/June/July for Salmon.

More Ice Fishing

Went out on 12/26 to test out some Christmas presents (note sled). It was a balmy zero degrees with a frozen mist/fog in the air making it a bit on the brisk side, but the fishing was real good.

My buddy Bob can't find his skimmer, so had to improvise with the kitchen spoon.

This photo is for Philly. So do I brine the trout filets before I smoke them or what is the secret?

Ice Fishin

Well, the photos posted backwards of what I intended, but oh well. Above is a better visual of true life in hunting camp. None of this looking fresh reading trashy newspapers...it is rotted beer drinking with periodic napping.

Last weekend, Neil found the six below zero weather a bit refreshing.

My first fish of the 09-10 ice fishing season

Today I broke my skunk for this ice fishing season thanks to the fact that Erik was reeling in one fish while another one happened to be hitting on one of his other poles by my feet. We all caught fish and it was a beeeaaaautiful day for ice fishing. Next weekend is supposed to drop below zero again, so it'll be time to bust out the ice shack. Merry Festivus to all!

Dry suit sale

I thought I'd get the word out about this Stohlquist drysuit sale I found online. Stohlquist B-pod drysuit for $499 with booties and relief zipper. New neck seal is much more comfortable than latex and just as watertight. They have 20% down layaway until the end of the month. I just ordered mine to replace my NRS.
